Provence is not only considered the most beautiful place in France, it is also the first wine-growing region in its history. Recently made famous and increasingly appreciated and recognized for its rosé wines, it also produces remarkable red wines that can age for several years in barrels and white wines of great freshness and finesse.
Lucky us, If rosé wine is never really far in Provence, so is the sea. In this tour through the cities of Cassis and Bandol weʼll discover all colors of wine and the splendid view over the azur water will refresh us between two glasses !
Weʼll pick you up from your place and drive to discover the fabulous history of this wine region alongside a WSET 3 graduate sommelier who will enthusiastically share his expertise in French wine, and answer all your wine related questions.
In the morning we will go to discover the greatest reds of Provence around the town of Bandol, this «Appelation dʼorigine contrôlée» (a.k.a. AOC) offers a hilly landscape facing the sea, made of terraces on which flourish the Mourvèdre grape variety, which has made its red wines worldwide famous. We will know all its secrets by opening the doors of a sumptuous wine estate, alongside a sommelier we will learn everything from the vine to the glass of wine it offers us, including the formation of bunches of grapes, their transformations into grape juice then wine and the essential steps to offer us this unique nectar.
We will taste the wines in a fantastic setting where you can be inspired, amateurs or connoisseurs, by the pleasures of tasting.
After that we will discover the wines of the Cassis appellation, little known yet unique in its location, it is the second oldest French appellation. In the heart of the Calanques National Park, this AOC enjoys a unique location offering a mineral “terroir” through its limestone soil and its iodized sea breezes. The specialty in white, goes perfectly with the local gastronomy, the fish.
Indeed Cassis is also a small fishing port rich in stories with incredible charm, we will take advantage of this stopover to treat ourselves to a divine lunch by the sea, and stroll on the Marina.
Before returning home, discover the viewpoint from the most high cliff of Europe, the Cap Canaille, fantastic vision between sky and sea leaving you a memorable image before the return.
